This week, for the second time (that is, for the second year in a row), Lithuanian bloggers started blogger self promotion week.
It's quite an interesting week. Because here in Lithuania, we have chosen a different path from the rest of the world.
(Aha, we're special. You can go brag about it on Facebook.)
While international blogs often exchange articles and authors (i.e. write guest articles), in Lithuania, at least as far as I have experienced in writing A cloudthat is unacceptable. For some reason, our authors, even if they like the texts, simply do not want to accept other people.
Perhaps there is a logic to it - it would be strange to give the honour to someone else when creating personal brands.
...But at the same time I don't understand it.
However. Good news: We've started promoting each other with lists!
(Hooray for lists! It's my favourite way to write!)
I'm joining too.
Here are the Lithuanian blogs I read.
The naming process is random. And I apologise that even when I write about other authors, I try to compare them with myself. This is my way of trying to put the evaluations in perspective, so that they are not just excerpts from the "About the Author" pages. ;')
1) Rokiskis Rabinovich.
Who: Let me introduce you to the Master of the Universe. Why he's the ruler, I don't know (anyway), but that's what he calls himself and I believed it. He is a legendary Lithuanian web author and he writes mile-long texts.
Why: I like kilometric texts. I also like Rokiškis themes - economy, the Soviet era, all sorts of linguistic stuff and a bit of annual political elections. He writes interestingly, in detail and writes a lot. The only drawback is that he often forgets the evidence or sources for his ideas, but I still believe him.
Where: https://rokiskis.popo.lt
By the way: every time Rokiškis clicks "like" on a post on Facebook or a new post, I have a little fit of euphoria. I want to be like him in the future.
2) Graphomania.
What: A blog for writers by a writer who must really be suffering from graphophomania.
Why: Because this is the only Lithuanian blog about writing, apart from this one, which you are reading right now. Only mine is like a little maggot that doesn't know its true shape, and Grafomania has been in the making for more than 8 years. There is a similarity with numbers 2 and 1 on this list - texts of cosmic length. Niam!
Where: http://grafomanija.lt/
By the way: she has written a book about writingwhich is also packed to the brim with text.
3) Architect of the mind.
What: A psychology and research-based guide to personal effectiveness in blog (!?) format.
Why: Three words: cosmic. Length. Texts. ...Are you beginning to understand what I like? But anyway - this blog is quite new and only started last year. And it already has about 1,000 followers on Facebook, half of which are probably directed by me with my endless praise and ads. Lukas is a psychologist, and it shows, because he does not spare evidence and literature.
Where: https://protoarchitektas.lt
By the way: for more than half a year I have been urging Lukas to write a book or at least to compile all the texts into one paper textbook. I would buy it.
4) Super Tribe.
What: A blog full of authentic life and practical advice.
Why: ...Space-length texts... Practical advice, interesting and innovative ideas, scientific evidence, and in general - Linas is a terribly nice person. That is, very cool. Not that cool, but scary. His blog has been around for probably 5 or 6 years now, only the last one hasn't been updated. I hope, however, that he will be back soon, as he promised.
Where: https://supergentis.lt
By the way: I respect Lin for his ability to create engaging headlines and to write with his true voice. Maybe it is because of this ability that he has attracted so much attention on social networks!?
5) The rider.
What: A sanctuary for positivity and ideas based on Eastern philosophy.
Why: I won't even write the first reason. I must have a fetish for one-form texts. *sighs* But anyway - Martyn (The Boatman) is a force! His texts are not full of new ideas, but they bring together old ideas into nice sets; texts that are like rivers. And that is wonderful.
Where: https://valtininkas.lt
By the way: it's funny to me that some bloggers consider Martyn and me to be the same person. It's like a compliment to me.
6) Nepo.
What: Personal reviews, ideas and writings.
Why: The only one of the seven whose texts are not kilometric. That's a pity. But anyway, I read Nepo... I don't even know why I read it. His texts are not very fantastic or innovative. But maybe I'm just used to it, because I've been coming here for more than 6 years, since I discovered him? I must have an addiction.
Where: https://nepo.lt
By the way: the Nepo has something long. And it showed me. This is his long... Long newsletters. 🙂
And I read these much less often, but I still drop in:
- School window. Remember when there used to be a programme about education, education and teachers under that title? So, Jurgita was the author of that programme, and now she writes. By the way, I also had a hand in the design of the page.
- Ilze Butkutė's blog. Despite the fact that she refuses to talk to me, I find her texts interesting. Sometimes.
- Coaching Blog. Because psychology, coaching and analyses of these subjects in Lithuania.
- Living psychology. Psychology and religion? Wow! Lina brings it all together. Interesting.
- I'm making a mess. Because he comes and makes a mess. Is there a problem? Well, there probably isn't in his house, because it's probably all done by his hands. Blé.
Additional:
N) Debesyla.
Who: You know that.
Why: Because I'm the author. Gi needs his own blog sometimes to read and revise old texts often, to see things as if you were a reader and to explore your own transformations of writing and content. Isn't it?
Where: https://debesyla.lt
By the way: guest articles in Clouds are welcome. Drop me an email if you are interested!
So these are the toquettes.
And do you know of more bloggers writing in Lithuanian whose texts are of a decent length? Who write interestingly, scientifically (or emotionally) and write a lot like Wait But Why? Then please share!
While writing this list, I realised that I have a fetish for long texts. And I like them.
Well, if you don't know anything, what blogs do you read?
Join in this week and share at least an excerpt of the list or, better, a link to your blog with the list in the comments below!
Yes - advertising is allowed. This is, after all, Self-Advertising Week. ;')
So what are YOU reading?
