How to find a topic for a new blog post

Reflections and drafts

As much as I hate the word "bad" and appreciate the word "blog", I will not use the latter this time. In this article, I will talk not only about blogs, but also about writing videos, audios, Facebook and other posts. 🙂

I could write a long introduction about today's topic. It will be fine without her.

Here are ideas, tips and tutorials on how to come up with a new post. Compiled from my experience in writing A cloud and from dozens of different articles on the same topic.

How do you figure out what to build first?

A) Ask your fans and readers - what would they like?

Perhaps the simplest thing you could do is… Ask.

And no, you don't need any magic phrases, forms, explanations or a dozen 700 euro courses to ask a question. A simple question of “what other post would you like?” works well enough.

The question, of course, can be more specific - for example, what is the topic, what questions arise after previous posts, what is bothering you and so on. There is a question - ask.

And where to ask? Well… It depends on where you are communicating with your fans or regular readers. By records? In the comments? On a Facebook page? email by mail, how do I communicate? Live for a cup of coffee? Your choice.

Yes, this tip is nothing special, new or amazing. But it usually works. Maybe because it's so easy.

B) Listen to what your fans and readers aren't saying

Although direct questions are good, they unfortunately do not always help. Especially when the people you ask don't know what they want or answer with the damned "it's all right for me".

And yes, this problem really bothers not only when asking what to create. It also interferes with asking your girlfriend or boyfriend, for example, what they would like for dinner or what movie to watch. 😀

Some people simply cannot answer questions.

Why they are like that - I don't know. Maybe they are idiots. Maybe they are not at all interested in what you do, what you strive for and what. Maybe they are too busy with something else at that moment. But one way or another, their answers… Don't help.

"I don't know", "I don't care", "everything is fine" and the like.

In such cases, I have one solution. It is best to listen to what our interlocutors answer without answering the question. Or in general, talking about other topics or asking a question in other words.

Let me give an example to make it clearer. 🙂

Take a look at what I've written so far. See? This is an article about what to do when you don't know what to write (or create). I didn't ask anyone if they would like this article. Instead, I just listened to what people were saying in the Facebook blogger group.

They never said directly that it was hard to think of what to write. However, often in the comments under the posts of other writers, they say that this is how well they came up with, I would not have come up with it.

And you, that's exactly what you need - things that others lack (whether it's helpful articles, or humor, or insights into the politics of Mordor).

C) What is missing to fill the section?

This method, again, comes from the previous one. It's a puzzle-filling method that's insanely effective when writing an article, article package, or other package of ONE idea.

…Er. But I probably wrote it a bit complicated.

What I mean:

Imagine that you are the user of your content. Reader, listener or viewer. And your content is, for example, a tutorial on how to build a house.

Your job is simple: See what is missing from your textbook to full (or fuller) happiness… And create it.

For example, if you have already described everything that stands on the ground... Maybe you forgot the foundations? Describe the foundations. Or, well, this is just an example - choose a subject yourself, according to your topic. 🙂

This method is probably the easiest to use when all the corners and edges have been placed in the puzzle and only the middle remains. But if there are no corners... You can always try the fourth method.

D) Create what you want to create.

Although, indeed, I personally believe that it is not even possible otherwise. Otherwise, you would just be lazy and rest, rather than doing something unpleasant. It's natural. 🙂

But still, if you don't have fans (or don't have them), if listening to people doesn't help, because maybe you don't know how to listen to them, if there are no details in your puzzle at all...

…So create what you like.

Because what's the worst that can happen if you don't have fans, you don't know people, and you don't know the topic either? What? Will the world fall? Someone angry will come at night to beat you up for trying your hand at a new field here, under a thunderstorm?

I doubt it. There is a chance that it will happen, because everything has a chance. However, this is… Doubtful. I wouldn't expect it if I were you.

After all, creating something you love can be your new calling, path, and meaning.

Do you already have ideas?

Well, but have you already guessed what you could create?

If not, don't worry, it shouldn't have happened here and now. First you need to try these four methods... And see what happens.

However, I guess it will take you less time than it would take you to sit and complain that you can't get a single thought into your head. 😉

Well, but, hey. Do you have any other ideas on how to come up with something to start creating? Or have you already tried these methods and want to share your opinion about them?

Write in the comments below. I am genuinely curious!
