To improve your teamwork, Walt Disney divided ideas into three rooms: dreamers, realists and critics.
All people and their ideas used to travel from room to room, both in order and returning - this is how the idea is polished to the final one. Walt Disney's method is unique in that it created a huge entertainment empire.
So, three rooms. Try going through them:
A dreamer.
Fantasies, wishes, hunches, bold and absurd ideas swirl in the head of this type without any restrictions or criticism.
- They must not be censored.
- There is nothing absurd or stupid about it.
- All things are possible.
To become a dreamer, ask yourself:
- If I had a magic wand that would create anything I wanted, what would I create?
- What would that look like?
- How would I feel about having that item?
- What's the most absurd idea I could come up with?
A realist.
All created ideas of the dreamer turn into something real and feasible. He should try to find out how they should work in reality, select them and organize them in an orderly manner.
To become realistic, ask yourself:
- What can I do to make this work?
- What are the functions of this idea?
- What is the essence of the idea?
- What is the principle of the idea?
- How can I make this idea as realistic as possible?
Critic.
The critic's room was small, located under the stairs, this space was very private because there was no taboo discussion. After putting on this mask, you should look for as many loopholes and "holes" in the idea as possible, become an advocate of your idea.
To become a critic, ask yourself:
- Is this the best I can do?
- What would improve this idea?
- Does it make sense?
- How will the product look to the customer?
- Is this idea worth my time?
- Can I improve it?
The Walt Disney method was created by a man who did not have special abilities in school, later suffered several bankruptcies, but became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world's creative industries.
This man solved his problems by using his imagination.
Walt Disney calls creativity imagineEnginertia, that is, the transformation of dreams, fantasies and imagination into reality.
