I see - you have lots of wishes and you don't know what to choose.

But you can't make everyone's wishes come true. Never.

Accept it.

  1. You don't have enough time for everything.
  2. Your starting points can make your paths more difficult. For example, if you've spent your whole life as a computer scientist, it wouldn't be easy to switch to plumbing. Or learn 30 foreign languages in 30 days.

Because your time on earth is limited (like your strength, your memory, your patience, the patience of your friends...), it is worth it to limited.

How?

AAAC

It's a tool used by legendary investor Warren Buffett: "Avoid at all costs" list.

His technique:

  1. Take a piece of paper.
  2. In any order it write to 25 of your greatest desires.
  3. Choose the five best ones.
  4. ...Anything that didn't make it onto the list of five goals, cross it out. You will not pursue these remaining desires for the time being. Maybe you won't for the rest of your life, but today and tomorrow? No.
  5. Write the top 5 goals on one sheet and the rest on another. Hang both sheets in a visible place.
  6. Every time you forget what you should be doing, take a look. If what you are doing is not in the Top 5, it is not worth your time. The list of rejected desires will help you remember that you did reject these desires for five better ones.

And it will help you.

Talking to a good friend,
Daniel
