{"id":3710,"date":"2014-03-11T15:30:15","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T13:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/?p=3710"},"modified":"2021-10-06T02:38:53","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T23:38:53","slug":"500-zodziu-kasdien","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/500-word-daily\/","title":{"rendered":"The month I tried to write daily for the first time"},"content":{"rendered":"<br \/>\n<h3><strong>Renewed!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I have also published a more recent story about daily writing (<a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/novel-per-month-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">1667 words daily<\/a>), also the year 2016-2017 was mine <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/365-days-raining\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">a year of daily writing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">Valio (valio, valio) - February 2014 is over! And with it, the challenge of 500 words written every day.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the test was quite simple: <strong>to write a coherent, cohesive text of at least 500 words each day. <\/strong>It doesn&#039;t matter what it is about and what I will do after writing it. I didn&#039;t allow myself to write down the days I missed.<\/p>\n<p>I took this challenge hoping to get used to (and learn) writing, improve my discipline skills, and try new ways of writing.<\/p>\n<p>...And I achieved my goal. Another 5 out of 28 days (17.9%) I wrote less and the remaining 14 I didn&#039;t write a word.<\/p>\n<p>I&#039;ll admit, at the end of the month I felt crushed by it. <strong>I failed to achieve what I had planned.<\/strong> Even after 4-6 days where I rested my head with my girlfriend or when I was able to forget about the suvis challenge, that&#039;s a number you don&#039;t want to write in your achievement book. Oh!<\/p>\n<p>But still, I was able to learn this, which should help in the future.<\/p>\n<h2>3 little discoveries about writing every day:<\/h2>\n<h3>1) Evening is not the best time for spelling.<\/h3>\n<p>Or, indeed, for any activity that requires attention and mental strength. I noticed the same thing <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/menesis-be-video\/\" style=\"outline: none;\" title=\"A year of crazy challenges: A month without video\">month without video entertainment<\/a> years.<\/p>\n<p>As research shows <a href=\"#footnote-1-3710\" id=\"note-1-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">1<\/a> or the knowledge of marketing specialists, <a href=\"#footnote-2-3710\" id=\"note-2-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">2<\/a> when we&#039;re tired, we make the worst choices and make the most excuses for being lazy.<\/p>\n<p>These no-do or &quot;I&#039;m buying because it&#039;s fast&quot; decisions make sense\u2014our brains know that if we don&#039;t rest or try to cut corners, we&#039;ll overwork ourselves and possibly get sick. <a href=\"#footnote-3-3710\" id=\"note-3-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>...But these decisions to take on challenges or change are potentially damaging.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#039;t think that athletes and coaches like Ignas Bakkei, <a href=\"#footnote-4-3710\" id=\"note-4-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">4<\/a> so praise <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/ankstus-kelimasis\/\" style=\"outline: none;\">getting out of bed earlier than usual<\/a>. those few minutes <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/uzrasai\/2017\/09\/kaip-anksciau-keltis\/\" style=\"outline: none;\">especially having a reason to get up<\/a>, <a href=\"#footnote-5-3710\" id=\"note-5-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">5<\/a> is at least fourfold <a href=\"#footnote-6-3710\" id=\"note-6-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">6<\/a> more valuable than bedtime work.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason own <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/365-rasymo-dienos\/\" style=\"outline: none;\">current writing<\/a> and I plan other work for the morning. Not too early, <a href=\"#footnote-7-3710\" id=\"note-7-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">7<\/a> but still for your morning. That is, about two hours after I roll out of bed.<\/p>\n<h3>2) Writing requires preparation.<\/h3>\n<p>It&#039;s easy to think that writers drink coffee all day and then, with a sudden stroke of genius, write a text in just a few free moments. I partly expected that too.<\/p>\n<p>However, I found that some evenings I spent more time thinking about the topic than writing. And I can write a 500-word text in an hour if the thoughts flow smoothly. What... It stretches the process a bit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Renewed:&nbsp;<\/strong>In 2016, after 3 years of writing training, I write about 1500-2000 words per hour, depending on the topic. I recommend Rachel Aaron&#039;s book&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/product\/B009NKXAWS\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=debesyla-21&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B009NKXAWS&amp;linkId=f6991b6efb28c5a5fc57f0d003e3b6ed\" style=\"outline: none;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&quot;2k to 10k: Writing Faster, Writing Better, and Writing More of What You Love&quot;<\/a>, if you also want to learn to write faster.<\/p>\n<p>That&#039;s how I realized that it&#039;s best to start when you have a plan ready. It doesn&#039;t have to be exact - it&#039;s important that the idea is captured in more than just your head. <a href=\"#footnote-8-3710\" id=\"note-8-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">8<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"17521\" width=\"644\" data-init-width=\"955\" height=\"362\" data-init-height=\"537\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/menuo-kasdien-rasant-po-500-zodziu.jpg\" data-width=\"644\" data-height=\"362\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is my desk when preparing to write - planning a new text and selecting arguments<\/p>\n<h3>3) Writing takes time. More than you think.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"\">I made a mistake during the challenge - I left only one hour for writing. If the thoughts flow smoothly, yes, that is quite enough, but it is quite another thing if the thoughts stumble over each other. Not to mention the writer&#039;s usual lack of focus. <a href=\"#footnote-9-3710\" id=\"note-9-3710\" class=\"footnote-link\">9<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"\">That&#039;s why I started giving myself twice as much time as I thought I would take to write. Because somehow everything drags on.<\/p>\n<h2>What will I do differently from now on?<\/h2>\n<p>One thing is for sure, writing in the evenings when I&#039;m tired after a day has not worked. Old times <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/uzrasai\/2017\/09\/kaip-anksciau-keltis\/\" title=\"How to get up earlier: How I did it\" style=\"outline: none;\">I used to write in the mornings<\/a> and it suited me. Therefore, I will spend time again at the beginning of the day for work.<\/p>\n<p>Also, at the beginning of the month, I threw away all my notebooks and left only one each for notes, diary and studies. That alone, the notes, the notebook allowed <a href=\"https:\/\/kaipisleistiknyga.lt\/idejos-mirsta\/\" title=\"Why your ideas die and what to do to make them bloom\" style=\"outline: none;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">don&#039;t lose ideas<\/a> for new texts - I intend to continue using it.<\/p>\n<p>I hope I will get used to it and learn to write more efficiently. Although the month-long challenge is over, I will still aim to write 500 words a day. This has become one of my new dreams!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> And the dream comes true. The year 2016-2017 became mine <a href=\"https:\/\/debesyla.lt\/en\/365-days-raining\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">in the year of daily writing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>But hey, I have a little question for you:<\/h3>\n<p>And how do you force yourself to overcome your challenges?<\/p>\n<p>Do you promise to give something away if you reach a goal? Using Jedi persuasion tricks on your head?
